HPE 136 - Foundations of Physical Education

3 Cr.
Contact Hours Per Week: 3 Lec.
Provides students with the opportunity to investigate and discuss the diverse career opportunities available within physical education and sport. Trends and issues in the field are discussed. Presentation and discussion of historical, sociological, and psychological perspectives of physical education and sports are incorporated into the content. This course assists students in defining career goals within the field. The new NYS and NASPE Teaching Standards are reviewed as well as the teacher certification changes that will occur after February 2, 2004.
