Workforce Development
SUNY Niagara’s Workforce Development Department provides personal and professional development opportunities for individuals, including industry-aligned career training and upskilling for employees of businesses. We are committed to helping the broader community thrive.
General Policies
It should be noted that these policies apply only to those classes run directly through Workforce Development. Classes that are provided through contractual agreements will need to follow the policies of that provider.
Refund Policy:
SUNY Niagara’s Workforce Development Department reserves the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. Should the College cancel a class, a full refund will be processed including both tuition and any fees charged for enrollment processing.
Students who change their mind about registration and wish to drop a course may do so at any time prior to the start date for the course. A request to drop should be sent by email to: workforce@niagaracc.suny.edu before the start date. Upon receipt of the request, full tuition will be refunded.
Should a student wish to withdraw after the start date for a class will need to follow the Workforce Development Refund Policy at: https://sunyniagara.edu/workforce-development-refund-policy/ and a course withdrawal request will need to be completed: This request can be found at: https://sunyniagara.edu/workforce-withdrawl-request/. Students who do not formally request to withdraw prior to the end of the class and who do not meet the attendance and grading policy for the class, will automatically incur full charges and a failing grade for the class, regardless of non-attendance.
Attendance Policy:
Students should be aware that many of the programs from Workforce Development lead directly from classroom to career. Certifying agencies often have strict grading and attendance policies that have requirements beyond the general policy that listed here. If the program you enroll in has such a policy, you need to follow that policy. If there is no other policy or agreement in place for a class in which you are enrolled, you will be expected to meet a minimum of 80% attendance in order to receive a certificate of completion for the course. In the event of extenuating circumstances, special consideration may be made for the student(s) to make up missed time; ultimate judgment is reserved for administration of the Workforce Development Department.

Sterile Processing Technician

Many healthcare workers are considered essential, but few are as fundamentally important as Sterile Processing Technicians. Without them, hospitals would not be able to function. Patients would not receive necessary surgeries; many more people would lose their lives from preventable infection or untreated medical conditions. Their work impacts nearly every department within modern hospitals and surgical centers. Sterile Processing Technicians clean and sanitize used surgical instruments and other medical supplies so that they can be safely redistributed and reused on additional patients. This short-term vocational program will prepare participants for extensive job opportunities in hospitals and surgical centers. If you are interested in entering this fulfilling career field, and making a critical difference in patients’ lives, contact us about this program. This program is designed to assist students in passing the CBSPD exam. The program consists of both a classroom and a clinical component. Students should be aware that they will need to travel off-site for a portion of the class, and they will need to meet the health requirements, including any vaccinations required by the site.
