ENG 102 - Writing II

3 Cr.
Contact Hours Per Week: 3 Lec.

Inspired by the scholarly tradition of the Humanities that values deep, nuanced ideas and complicated, civil debate, this course advances the critical thinking, writing, and research skills emphasized in ENG 101. Students will learn to analyze and interpret sophisticated texts (e.g., literature, film, art) as both aesthetic objects and sources of culturally-specific meaning. While individual sections of the course may explore a variety of texts from different cultures and time periods, all sections will intensify the study of the rhetorical principles necessary for students to meet the writing demands of their personal, professional, and civic lives. This course is the second part of a two-semester sequence.
Usually offered Fall and Spring semesters
Pre-Requisites: ENG 101
General Education: Meets SUNY requirement for Basic Communication - Written (COMW)
