MUS 115 - Music: Introduction Thru Class Era

3 Cr.
This survey course emphasizes the study of musical styles, forms and composers from the Middle Ages (ca. 600) through the Classical (ca.1875). Music studied will include: chant, motet, chanson, madrigal, oratorio, opera, concerto, symphony, string quartet and other vocal and instrumental forms. Acquisition of musical vocabulary through reading, writing and listening will be emphasized. It is helpful for students to read musical notation, but not a necessity. This is a web-based course intended for the non-music major or students without previous music experience
