NUR 213 - Nursing Perspectives2 Cr.
The structure and nature of the nursing profession as it relates to today’s society is presented, including: historical perspectives, ethical and legal responsibilities, employment preparation, career opportunities, educational pathways and legislation affecting nursing practice.
The content of the pharmacology section of this course is designed to expose the student to an overall view of drugs used for treatment of clinical disorders of patients from all age groups. The course is designed to augment pharmacology knowledge acquired in nursing theory courses and to assist the student in safe clinical practice regarding medication issues. Pertinent information about specific drugs or drug classifications will be discussed, including dosage, interactions, and nursing implications. The responsibility of the nurse in the application of drug therapy will be stressed.
