MAT 046 - ST: Mathematical Reasoning

4 Cr.
Contact Hours Per Week: 4 Lec.

This is a foundation course for further mathematics study and does not provide college credit in any curriculum. This course focuses on math for everyday life. It integrates fluency with numbers, proportional reasoning, data interpretation, algebraic reasoning, modeling, and communicating quantitative information. Mathematical concepts are investigated through group problems and class discussions based on real-life contexts of citizenship, personal finances, and medical literacy. This course prepares students to take a college-level non-STEM course in mathematics, such as MAT 104, MAT 106, or MAT 164. Students placing at this level and needing MAT 110 should take MAT 002 instead of this course.
