PHY 152 - Wave Motion, Heat and Light

4 Cr.

Specific topics include Simple Harmonic Motion, traveling waves, standing waves, acoustics, thermometry, heat units, heat transfer, the Ideal Gas Law, the First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics, the heat engine, the refrigerator, the Carnot cycle, reflection, refraction, the optics of prisms and lenses and various interference effects. Meets SUNY General Education requirement for Natural Sciences (NS) (Usually offered Spring semester.)

Pre-Requisites: 4 credits of mechanics or other introductory physics course or permission of the instructor.
Co-Requisites: PHY152L
