TEC 151 - Alternate Energy Systems

3 Cr.

This course is a general introduction to the evolving world of Energy discovery, conversion, utilization and management.  Starting with the Pulitzer Prize winning book “The Prize” by Daniel Yergin we explore the history of oil from its discovery in Titusville, PA to its present position of power.  From there we look at the current developments in Wind, Solar, Geothermal, Hydro and Tidal Energy Generation.  Students in this first semester course start a journal to chronicle this fast changing field and start extracurrucular studies in a topic of interest that one day could develop into their future career path.
