TEC 254 - Smart Control Systems

3 Cr.

Smart Control Systems is a practical course with hands on labs to show both the theory and outcomes of using smart controls.  From simple room motion detectors for lighting controls to more elaborate systems to control central plant operations, students will learn how smart control systems require good input data and analysis to deliver maximum energy efficiencies.  Measuring energy generation and loads over time will yield a matrix of parameters that need to be understood for the next generation of energy systems.  To analyze this dynamic matrix and program equipment to start, stop, ramp down, store or even shed power with minimal loss.
Concurrent Requirement: Pre-requisite that may be met concurrently: ELT 110
