ANI 102 - Scriptwriting & Storyboarding for Animation

3 Cr.

A writing intensive course where students explore various brainstorming techniques as well as methods for structuring stories for short animated films. Emphasis is placed upon engaging the audience and then keeping their interest for the duration of the story. Contrasts are made between writing for short films vs. writing for feature films, in areas such as: economy of characters, dialogue, and efficient delivery of story beats. In the second half of the semester, students create both traditional as well as digital storyboards, transforming their original text into sequential images. Open to non-majors. Usually offered in the Spring semester.
