This course is an introduction to the study of paranormal phenomena and their influence on human behavior and cultures worldwide. Students will evaluate data, both quantitative and qualitative, based upon research by parapsychologists and anthropological field workers. A critical assessment of near death studies and reincarnation research will also be a prominent feature of the course. Students will integrate this knowledge with an intensive study of an anthropologically known culture in which paranormal beliefs and experiences have deeply influenced both the culture’s development and individual expression.
