AMG 210 - Vertebrate Morphology

3 Cr.
Contact Hours Per Week: 2 Lec.

This is an introductory course in general comparative vertebrate morphology. An overview of features associated with representatives of each of the major classes of vertebrates will provide an understanding of their anatomical, developmental, and evolutionary differences, while conveying the concept of homology. Laboratory dissections of key vertebrate representatives will enable the student to recognize key morphological features important in the taxonomy of each class of vertebrates. The lectures will cover both historical and modern views on comparative morphology, the underlying biology of tissue-organ systems, and evolutionary perspectives on the origin, and diversification of form among the vertebrates.
Restricted to Animal Management Students
Usually offered Spring semester
Pre-Requisites: BIO 205, BIO 207, BIO 208, BIO 209, BIO 210
