The Career

The mission of the one-year certificate program in Emergency Management is to prepare our students to respond to and be effective professionals before, during and after any local, statewide or national emergency.  In addition, this career path will provide students with an option to enter a new career with many opportunities.

In an increasingly complex world facing natural and human-induced disasters, students completing this curriculum will have an understanding and have expertise of how individuals and organizations should respond during disasters. They will be able to face the specific challenges encountered by emergency responders, team leaders and managers.

The NCCC Approach

Individuals, police officers, fire fighters, emergency responders, safety and security officers in both the public and private sectors will be prepared to offer practical strategies and methodologies for effective response. Learning activities will include the Incident Command System and the Emergency Operation Center.

Graduates will be able to engage, facilitate, lead and encourage community and organizational disaster preparedness.

Courses are taught by dynamic, qualified emergency management faculty who are a part of this very good program, which falls under Homeland Security.

Students are admitted in September and January.
