MUS 101 - Music Appreciation

3 Cr.
Contact Hours Per Week: 3 Lec.

This course is a general‚  introduction to the musical styles, forms, and composers throughout the history of classical music. Material discussed in terms of the elements of music, musical instruments, and performing ensembles. Emphasis is placed on the characteristic styles of major historical periods adn the lives and works of key composers within the tradition of Western Music. The ability to read musical notation is not necessary. The course is recommended for the non-music major or students without previous music experience.
