COM 101 - Introduction to Media Communications

3 Cr.
Contact Hours Per Week: 3 Lec.

This course provides a foundation for understanding media communication through the perspective of convergence. Students will analyze the evolution of media and discuss the impact it has had on communication and society. Emphasis will be placed on developing skills in media literacy in a digital age to become critical consumers of information. This survey course will cover various elements of mass communication such as: print media, audio media, visual media and interactive media. These types of media will be examined and applied to the contexts of journalism, public relations and advertising.
Pre-Requisites: AAC 042 and ENG 099
