PTA 221L - Clinical Medicine I Laboratory1 Cr. Contact Hours Per Week: 3 Lab
This laboratory companion course for PTA 220 provides the student with instruction in physical therapy management of patients with cardiac, vascular, integumentary, pulmonary, endocrine, oncologic, and pelvic floor diagnoses commonly seen in physical therapy clinical practice. The course includes simulated practice of treatment of cardiac and pulmonary patients, burn injuries and other wounds including clinical concerns and interventions when working with patients with wounds associated with diabetes. Additionally, clinical concerns and interventions when working with patients with diabetes, therapeutic exercise protocols, residual limb care, prosthetic application, and functional training for patients with amputation will be addressed. This is a five-week modular course which begins the eleventh week of the semester.
