MAS 207 - Massage Therapy: Expanded in Related Modalities3 Cr. Contact Hours Per Week: 2 Lec.
Massage Therapy covers a wide range of related methods, or models of bodywork. This course is designed to present a comprehensive overview of the most commonly practiced methods in order to familiarize students with them for possible future study and necessary preparation for the National Certification Exam and the New York State Boards. The instructor will present an interactive lecture/lab session on the following modalities:
Chakra Model - Polarity Therapy - Active Isolated Stretching - Craniosacral Therapy - Positional Release Therapy - Myofascial Therapy - Chair Massage - Hot Stone Massage - Reflexology - Sports Massage - Trigger Point Therapy - Myofascial Release Therapy - Neuromuscular Therapy - Pre-Natal Massage.
This course is meant to introduce students to a variety of bodywork treatment options that are available to them for Advanced Certification Training requirements, as well as resources for new skill-sets and practice building. Pre-Requisites: MAS 203, MAS 204, MAS 204L, MAS 205, MAS 215, HED 214 Concurrent Requirement: Pre-requisites that may be met concurrently: MAS 206
