The Career

The Business Management certificate program is designed to meet the needs of professional managers or those who aspire to become managers. In this short-term program, students will acquire fundamental knowledge and skills while establishing a sound academic base for an associate degree in Business Administration.

A certificate in Business Management may benefit individuals seeking career advancement opportunities in the areas of industry, financial services, distribution, health services, retailing, government, small business and non-profit organizations.

Admission

Students admitted in fall, spring and summer.

The Business Management program is offered as a full-time or part-time day program part-time evening program or online program. Because of the sequencing of courses, it may take longer than four semesters to complete the part-time evening program, or two semesters to complete the full-time day program, if a student begins in a spring semester.

Program Goals and Objectives

  • To provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for beginning- and advanced-level careers in business-related occupations

Program Learning Outcomes

At the completion of this program, students will:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of fundamental managerial and organizational forms, human resource principles and structures, business communication principles and techniques
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of major social, economic and technological trends on organizations
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental concepts of accounting, business law and small business management

Program Requirements (BMAN)


  1. A total of at least 30-credit hours with a minimum curriculum grade-point average of 2.0. Academic Foundations courses do not count toward the certificate.
  2. Business: A minimum of 21-credit hours to include:

  3. Computer Technology: A minimum of 3-credit hours selected through advisement from:

* Dependent upon the fulfillment of Academic Foundations requirements.

** Students must take either CIS 100 or each of the following modules: CIS 105, CIS 111 and CIS 115.

+ MAT 105 is replacing MAT 104.
