The Career
The Electronics Technology program is designed to prepare graduates for careers in the field of electronics. The courses target skill sets that a modern electrical technician utilizes such as work in electronics, microprocessors, robotics, and industrial instrumentation and control systems. The electronic courses offer hands-on learning opportunities with modern electronics equipment with knowledge in electronic instruments, devices, and measurement techniques.
The SUNY Niagara Approach
This two-year degree program is offered as a path to enter the electronics technology industry by focusing on skills related to construct and analyze circuits, understand testing techniques and fault diagnosis, and using programmable devices to perform installations and evaluate systems.
Admission
Students are typically admitted in the fall for full-time study. Admission is offered in the spring as well, but students might be delayed due to course sequencing.
Program Learning Outcomes
The student will:
- Demonstrate the ability to analyze electrical circuit diagrams and systems to solve for appropriate electrical data and specifications
- Demonstrate the ability to construct electrical circuits from schematic diagrams, and to analyze the circuits
- Demonstrate the ability to analyze, test, and diagnose for faults using the appropriate measurement techniques and adjust the equipment.
- Demonstrate the ability to design electrical circuits and systems from given data and specifications
- Demonstrate an applied knowledge of electrical theory and electronic components including programmable devices to perform equipment installation, test, and evaluation
Articulation Agreement
This program has no current articulation agreements and is intended for direct entry into the workforce. SUNY Seamless Transfer guarantees that any course taken for SUNY General Education will transfer as a General Education course to any other SUNY institution. Graduates of the program will finish with 5 SUNY General Education categories and 20 SUNY General Education credits.
