General Education Hold Harmless policy addendum

Continuing students who entered NCCC prior to Fall 2023 will be allowed to complete the existing SUNY general education requirements that applied at their first point of matriculation in their degree program.  Students have the option to choose the new General Education framework if they feel that it is more beneficial to the completion of their educational goals.

Readmit students who previously attended NCCC or another SUNY institution prior to Fall 2023 will be given an opportunity to pursue the General Education requirements in place at the time of the first enrollment.  Students must follow the readmit process to determine which set of general education requirements are most beneficial to complete.  In addition, general education requirements identified as fully or partially complete on the GETA (General Education Transcript Addendum) will be accepted as meeting the same General Education category as the receiving campus.

There will be no conditions that require any NCCC student to repeat successfully completed general education courses or credits that result in extended time-to-degree, unnecessary cost, and/or duplication of effort.
