ANT 251 - Methods in Social Research

This course examines the fundamental principles of scientific research and its methods within the fields of Sociology and Anthropology. By using scientific rigor within a theoretical framework, this course systematically evaluates the methods of gathering information, analyzing data, and examining results to reach evidence-based conclusions to explain the nature of social events and phenomena. Students will develop the skills necessary to conduct professional research as well as increase their critical thinking skills. Major topics include evaluating scientific literature, quantitative and qualitative reasoning, research designs, data analysis and the interpretation and application of results.

Pre-Requisites: AAC 042 and ENG 099 or waiver through testing
Concurrent Requirement: Pre-requisite that may be met concurrently: SOC 101 or ANT 101
