HOS 222 - Catering and Events3 Cr. Contact Hours Per Week: 2 Lec., 3 Lab
The student will enroll in this course and gain front of the house industry hands on experience in hosting catering and events at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute and possibly at NCCC Sanborn. A total of 45 hours of on-the-job experience must be completed in order to receive course credit along with any other related course work such as journals, research papers, performance appraisals, etc. This course focuses on front of the house service: greeting, hosting, serving, dining room set-up, event execution and clean-up, etc. The class will host a series of private parties, banquets, and events, with skills learned to include meeting management, sales, tours, and attractions, etc. Typical events hosted by this class can include Grand Buffets, Open House, Food and Wine Pairing Dinners, School Counselor Luncheons, Sanborn Party(s), NCCC Scholarship Gala, as well as other events. Usually offered fall and spring semesters Concurrent Requirement: Pre-requisites that may be met concurrently: HOS 111 and HOS 143
