HUS 141 - Direct Support Professional Level II Certification Prep

The course aligns with the national certification offered to Direct Support Professionals through The National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) and prepares students to earn the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) competency badges for Level II. Through a study of service strategies based on current theory and practice, this course is designed to provide a solid foundation in evaluation and observation; communication; professionalism and ethics; and community inclusion and networking necessary to provide basic direct support services in a variety of settings such as child/day care centers, personal care, elder care, or independent living facilities. The course reviews client needs and services and identifies the skills and attitudes required of the effective direct support professional.
