ELT 240 - PLC Programming

3 Cr.
Contact Hours Per Week: 2 Lec., 3Lab

The study of PLC functionality.  The course describes what is a PLC and how they work including a review of the different types of modules (input, output, digital, and analog) and their representation in electrical schematics.  Setting up a PLC program, starting with the connection of switches and instrumentation will be introduced.  Ladder logic programming techniques, analog scaling and devices, using analog values for decision making, sending output values both digital and analog outputs will be covered.  Applying special functions such as timers, math functions, and regulators will also be analyzed. 
Pre-Requisites: ELT 216
