The Career

As gaming becomes a greater part of both the local and national entertainment market, employment opportunities are also growing. The management challenges in this part of the hospitality industry are great. The service delivery demands of this 24/7/365 business require high-level management skills and an applied knowledge of the legal and regulatory restrictions that apply. Employers are increasingly requiring academic coursework to assure that employees have a solid base of knowledge, skills and abilities in these areas. Upon completion of this program, the student will have developed a comprehensive knowledge of the challenges that exist in this labor intensive and demanding field.

The NCCC Approach

The Casino Operations certificate is a 26-credit hour program offering academic courses that are fully transferable to the AAS Gaming and Casino Management degree. Students are required to find employment in the industry to complete 400 hours of work experience to complete the certificate requirements (prior employment experience may be applicable). For students who are not yet ready for or interested in a degree, this certificate program will provide the foundation for entry-level supervisory and management positions in the gaming industry.
